Small Skipper

Scientific Name: ( Thymelicus sylvestris )

Similar to their larger cousins, the Small Skipper also rests it’s fore wings above it’s hind wings when sitting and despite their name can be very adept flyers weaving through the grasslands they call home. They are also found in rough grasslands and on woodland verges like the Large Skipper.

The Small Skipper is a small orange and brown butterfly with no pattern to the upper wing that would distinguish them from the large skipper. They are distinguished from the very similar Essex skipper by the black tips to their antenna.
